wrote a note: 'Major review of non-heating electricity requirements, particularly Audio Visual and PC. I usually watch TV in the bedroom as I go to sleep, but in the past I needed TV, Active Speakers, Amplifier, SKY+, and VCR all to be powered to do so. Major rewiring done to mitigate this. Bedroom TV was never unplugged as it would loose its tuning presets. Got around this by using Composite video from SKY+ -> TV instead of Composite video from SKY+ -> Amplifier -> VCR and then RF video VCR -> TV. Also a lot of PC equipment was being left on for no reason. All appliances not having a proper on-off switch now have individually switched wall sockets. Used a £15 gadget from Maplins to measure appliances' wattage. Found several appliances (Active Speakers, PC) that have a 'proper' off switch but still use power ! I reckon I've saved a total of 170 Watts x 24hrs per day.'
